South Coast of LLŷn Peninsula with Snowdonia Range in background - turned out nice again!

Whether you're planning to stay close to us here on the Peninsula or venture into the mountains the following weather links may help you plan your days. Alternatively, have a chat with a local farmer as his forecast is often more accurate than Siân Lloyd's!

Wales, but more especially the Llŷn Peninsula, does not suffer from the constant torrential rain that is popular belief...the sun often comes out to play!

Llŷn is renown for having its own micro climate – enjoying plenty of warm sunny summer days and mild winters. We benefit from the Gulf Stream which brings warm weather and warm waters. Also, we are sheltered from the prevailing southwesterly winds by the hills and mountains of Snowdonia.

The Llŷn Peninsula only receives about 90cm of rain a year and gets over 200 hours of sunshine in the sunniest months of the year.

It's a different story in mountainous Snowdonia. Near Yr Wyddfa (Mt. Snowdon), over 500cm of rain is recorded (on average) every year and it is one of the wettest places in Britain.

Quite often on lovely warm sunny days we look out from our high tower and can see the rain falling over the mountains of Snowdonia.
