20th December 2011
Well, it's just a few days until Christmas & the famous Ropeworks Christmas cards have been sent (let us know if you'd like to be on the list & sent one next year!). It just remains to say thank you to all of our 2011 adventurers - we hope to see as many of you as possible again during 2012. Next year is looking to be our most exciting ever because we have some changes in store that guarantee even more thrills for everyone. Watch this space, or better still, "like" our facebook page & be first to hear the news. Happy Christmas everyone.

26th October 2011
We're in the middle of a busy half term week. It's always a busy week with everyone realizing that the clocks will be changing & that winter will soon be with us. Since the end of summer, we've had a good number of "group" visits... schools, birthday parties etc. You can check out our groups page to see what's on offer. A few weekends ago we had our annual visit from the 6th formers of a school who participate on one of our "team challenge" days. There's always plenty of laughs (& screams) & the day finishes with a tremendous ammount of sausages being cooked on the bbq!

23rd August 2011
The Under 8's Climbing Wall Challenge is proving to be fantastically popular with our "mini adventurers". We were always aware that is could be mightily frustrating for younger brothers & sisters just to have a stand & watch the older ones having all the fun. It's brilliant that they can now get involved - many of them indepentently climbing higher than ever before.
15th July 2011
You are reading this through the portal of our shiny new website. We've been wanting to freshen things up for a little while now. Extra content will be added over the coming weeks & months - this will include more photos, some movie content & anything else that we think of that's informative, entertaining & worthwhile. If anybody out there has any suggestions on what you & others would like to see on the site, please let us know.

16th June 2011 - important news for younger adventurers
Our "climbing wall challenge" is now up & running. It is especially suitable (although not exclusively so) for our younger visitors who need another birthday or two before they can take on our "high challenge" course. We have re-designed our wall, adding extra hand & foot holds chosen & spaced specifically for smaller hands & feet. The "climbing wall challenge" lasts for 35mins (approx.) & costs £8.

28th April 2011
This photo shows a glorious Easter Sunday with both "high challenge" AND "aerial adventure" courses in full swing - everybody experiencing lots of excitement (what's more, it was Easter eggs all round for everyone after the thrills). Our ongoing program of Instructor Training continues, with more of our staff attending the "aerial adventure course" training days.

29th March 2011
A few have been asking if there are any photos of our "aerial adventure" trialists in action (re. previous latest news item). Here's Gwen & Gethin confidently taking the challenge. A whole series of photos of this historic event can be viewed in the album "ysgol botwnnog - aerial adventure" on the Ropeworks facebook page...take a look.

24th March 2011
After months of graft & toil building our new section, our first adventurers arrived yesterday to put it through its paces. The first trialists were 5 students from our local school, Ysgol Botwnnog, who popped down after final lessons of the day. During the past few months of construction the site has been filled with the sounds of hammering, sawing & drilling. It was great to hear the screams, shouts & gasps of Gethin, Eben, Gwen, Alaw & Cara as they made their first steps out on "aerial extreme".

28th February 2011
All of the main construction work of "aerial adventure" is complete. The remaining work involves finishing off the installation of the cable system that all particpants will be connected to, keeping them safe. The photo shows a set of ropes & karabiners that will used as part of the attachment system - there's nothing like shiny, brand new equipment!

18th December 2010
A full month of construction of our new "aerial adventure" course has taken place & we're well on schedule. The very cold dry weather has really helped us make good progress. We're at the stage where the obstacle/challenge elements are being built & attached to the already erected poles - we've been regularly adding photos to the "aerial adventure construction 2010/11" photo album on the Ropeworks facebook page...take a look. The photo on the left shows this years Ropeworks Christmas card - let us know if you'd like to be on the list to receive one next year! Happy Christmas everyone.

24th November 2010 - BIG NEWS !
The construction of the major extension to our course is under way - we'll be calling it "aerial adventure" The first main job is to sink the new poles that the new elements will be attached to. The poles come all the way from Finland, a country where 72% of the land is forested. As mentioned in previous "latest news", our new section will consist of a high level walkway "journey" that will be called "aerial adventure". Further updates will follow - in the meantime, we have created an album "aerial adventure construction 2010/11" on our facebook page, where you check out the progress being made http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.157466760961595.25252.141248869250051

30th October 2010
Being half term, this week will be the last of the super busy ones until next spring. Of course, we stay open throughout the Winter months & remember, a Ropeworks session on a cold winter's day is a great way of getting the blood pumping - so give us a call! The photo shows one of our "halloween" groups posing with "Peter the Ropeworks pumpkin" - very scary.

28th September 2010
The holidays may just be memories & most of our area's visitors have headed off back home. Those of us who are fortunate to be here all the time, have been enjoying some lovely warm Spetember days, enjoying the quietness of the countryside & hills, & the emptiness ofthe beaches. If you live away, try & arrange an Autumn visit to us one year. We've just had our regular visit from one of our local schools who draw their 6th formers from all over the world. The day has a team competition theme, with various physical & mental challenges. BBQd sausages finish off what's always a fun day.

10th August 2010
Mid summer & the place is buzzing. We do love it when old friends come back & see us each year. Here's a group from Nefyn Urban Saints Camp. Their campsite in Nefyn is about 10 miles from us & each year (since 1999) groups of young campers arrive for their Ropeworks experience. What's great to see is that some of "todays" leaders came to us as young campers just a few years ago.

19th June 2010
We're having a re-arrange of our office & recption area. Well, it's a bit more than that as it involves knocking a wall down! Here's our "builder extraordinaire", Endaf, hard at it. If all goes to plan, the new layout will give us some more space that'll enable spectators to sit inside & relax with a coffee on those colder days. The really exciting news is that we've started planning a major new extension to our course that will involve the construction of a high level, aerial walkway. The work will take place across the winter months...watch this space!

26th March 2010
Brrrr - what a winter. Having said that, we saw very little snow here on the Peninsula. Our climate here often spares us the really extreme winter conditions & it benefits us in the summer when we enjoy an above average amount of warm, sunny days. Easter is just around the corner &, right on cue, the sun has begun to shine. Even more importantly, everybody seems to be coming out of hibernation as we're busy on the phone & email taking plenty of bookings & helping to arrange visits to us. As you can see, we have our own Easter Bunny "Bwnji Bach". He was rescued & looked after by Instructor Magi & this photo was taken just before he was released back to be with his furry friends who live on the quiet, far side of our land. You'll be pleased to know that he's been spotted happily playing with his mates.

17th December 2009
Next week we'll be entertaining our first ever Christmas Eve visitors. Well done to the Thomas & Williams families who'll be taking a break from stuffing the turkey & watching The Sound of Music in order to participate in some high adventure with us. We'll be presenting them with one of this year's exclusive, limited edition(!) Ropeworks Christmas cards ...let us know if you'd like us to put you on our Christmas list & we'll send you one of next year's. - Happy Christmas everybody.

30th October 2009
Instructor Magi brought in "Peter the Ropeworks pumpkin". All the lights in the office were turned off & he sat on the counter glowing eerily. However, he didn't scare anybody away as all of our sessions were full with it being the end of a glorious half term week - bright sunny days with lots of happy people. From next week, we'll be taking a bit of a breather but already we have some Winter bookings with some of our regular groups (schools/youth organisations etc.) committing to regular visits right through to the springtime.

3rd August 2009
Hmmm - hardly the bbq summer we were promised but at least everyone's not getting as wet as they did last year. Always a highlight of our year is the vist from Mid Ulster Boys Brigade. After their session, our Instructors always need a lay down for half an hour(!) - the boys are brilliant - not a minute passes without someone cracking a killer joke or doing something highly amusing. Fingers crossed for some more sunny days over the next few holiday weeks.

6th June 2009
The ongoing programme of inside & outside improvements continue. Here is "builder extraordinaire" Endaf, in typical leaning on shovel pose, as he admires his beautifully straight line whilst erecting our new spectator area fence.

11th March 2009
Spring feels like it's here & we're looking forward to the longer days after the clocks move on to BST at the end of the month. Bookings for Easter are already looking healthy & lots of people are saying that many more of us will opt to take our holidays in the UK this year, with North Wales being a popular destination. Here's hoping that many decide that a whizz around a high ropes course is on their list of holiday activities. A few jobs are being carried out to make sure we're looking spik & span before the start of our holiday season. Here's Nick spreading 32 tonnes of slate chippings to give everyone a comfy new surface to walk around on.

December 23rd 2008
Well, Christmas is just a couple of days away, another year over & another mutitude of fun / exciting / scary(!) memories have been taken away by countless Ropeworks visitors. It just leaves me to say thank you to everyone who came to us during 2008 & of course thank you to all of our Instructors who give everyone such an amazing time. We believe (& you, our visitors tell us)that the Ropeworks experience is a unique one, & to a great extent, this is down to our amazing team. Our final photo of 2008 shows an end of year winter sun, setting over the western tip of our beautiful peninsula. However, "nae man can tether time or tide" (Robert Burns), & so we look forward to 2009, with all the new people & fun it'll bring.

September 8th 2008
With the holidays over, we're able to draw breath & get some of those jobs done that have been on the "to do" list for a little while. One thing that's become obvious over the past few busy months is that our "kitting up room" (where everyone has their harnesses & helmets fitted) has need extending. Here's Nick being handy with the drill.

26th July 2008
Loads of happy smiley holiday faces about at the moment as the summer gets under way. Here's Georgi, Lauren & Aimee, all the way from Hertfordshire, spotting their names on the world famous Ropeworks Booking Blackboard. The weather is ...errr changeable but of course that never spoils the fun, thrills & excitement.

17th May 2008
As mentioned last time, our major project over the past few weeks has been the construction of our new climbing wall. The photo shows "ropes course builder extraordinaire" Sam, inserting the final few hand & foot holds. There'll be three climbs of differing grades & our first intrepid climbers will be here in the morning ... who'll be first to conquer the tricky yellow route ?

11th April 2008
Goodness Gracious - Easter has come & gone already. Interesting fact: Easter Sunday has not fallen as early as what it did this year since 1913 & barring substantial breakthroughs in medical science, it won't be as early agian in any of our lifetimes. The photo shows Angela & Dave, tandem on the Leap of Faith during their Easter break. This is an enjoyable time of year as we sort out bookings for & look forward to seeing groups & families that pay us a visit every year. It's also great to be catching up with some of our Instructor team who've been working or living away across the winter. We've still got an ongoing programme of improvements to be made to the course & site. The big project that'll take place over the next few weeks is the construction of a new climbing wall, which we'll hopefully have build before the end of May.

14th December 2007
All is quiet - as you would expect for mid December, although a couple of hardy families have just made a booking for Boxing Day...beats watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang again we reckon. Autumn proved to be a very busy period with plenty of group vists. Also, the gods blessed us with some lovely October weather which meant everybody on theirhalf-term breaks had smiley faces! The "seasonal" photoshows the one and only occasion snow fell & settled on our old Greenacres course during our eight years there. Well here's hoping that everyone has a peaceful Christmas & we hope to see lots of you again during 2008.

20th September 2007
Despite us being really busy over the past few days - we've been running a team challenge event for a local school who draws students from all over the world (see photo) - there seems to be be a real end of summer feel around the place at the moment (maybe because it is the end of the summer!). Now seems to be a good moment to draw breath & reflect on our first season here on the new site. All of our regular visitors have stated that the great vibe & atmosphere that was present when we were at Greenacres has followed us up the road here to Hafan y Môr...I don't think we could have hoped for a better start. We hope that we've remembered to thank the many people who have supported and helped us out over the past few months & a special massive thanks goes to all of our Instructors. Their enthusiasm, sense of fun and total professionalism ensures all of our visitors are having an amazing time.

15th August 2007
This summer's essential fashion item seems to be wellington boots. The beautiful weather we had in the springtime promised so much but since then...! Anyway, despite the rubbish weather, we're currently right in the middle of our busiest period time of the year with a great mix of groups (schools, youth camps etc.) and folk on holiday coming to us from far and wide. The photo shows our latest visit from CCIW (Christian Camps in Wales) who thankfully brought some rare sunshine with them - not a wellie in sight.

22nd June 2007
It's been obvious over these first three
months that all of our visitors
are enjoying the NEW Ropeworks experience just as much as our visitors of past years. Also, it's been good to see some
familiar faces from the Greenacres' years visit us here at Hafan y Môr. New faces have included the JCA (Junior Choice Adventures) crowd who are with us at the moment. Throughout June scores of 13-16
year olds from all over the UK are spending a residential week here at Hafan y Môr with JCA & they're incorporating Ropeworks in their activity programme. Behind the scenes, we're looking to
improve the aesthetics of our site by creating more green areas. Instructor Training is ongoing and we've got some fresh new faces on board (including Cecily and Jemma -(photo) who seem to have
settled in nicely with the old craggy ones!

30th April 2007
Our new course is now open! (has been for a month now). It was a bit hairy scary, with everyone still running around cleaning and sweeping just moments before our first visitors arrived - but Jonny, Nick, Dave, Helen Angharad and Mike were able to pause and pose for this historic photoprior to the first ever session. The pleasure of being the first adventurers on the new course went to Brentwood School (Essex). It was quite apt that it was them as they are old friends having over the years visited us at our old Greenacres site. It really was a case of us hitting the ground running as the Easter crowds descended on us during our opening week. Lots of jolly people enjoying the Ropeworks experience in glorious weather, made April 2007 a month to remember.

19th March 2007
Loads of work has taken place over the past few weeks and our new site is at last really looking like a rope-course. All poles have been sunk and our high tower is built. Next on the schedule is the intallation of the 3G(force) swing and the climbing wall. The final tasks will be to prepare the path walkways between each element and erect the perimeter fencing. The interior of our reception building has been re-designed & once the paint is dry, will house the kit room & the office. Nick is demonstrating his roofing skills as he constructs a covered veranda area that will provide shelter for spectators. Instructor training sessions have been scheduled & it's all getting exciting as our 3rd of April opening day approaches.

12th January 2007
At the end of 2006, after 7 great years & 1000s of visitors (all having a great time of course), we said goodbye to our Greenacres site. Yes, it was a sad occasion - is that a tear in the eye of Instructor Mike as he tidies up after running our very last session on the site. Anyway, everyone's feeling excited & it's onwards & upwards as we prepare to move up the road to Hafan y Môr & start the construction of our brand new course.
